Re-refining is an energy-efficient and environmentally beneficial method of managing used oil. Re-refined oil takes about one-third the energy of refining crude oil.
Re-refining extends the life of a nonrenewable resource by using it over and over again. And, re-refining removes a household hazardous waste from our environment.
It only takes one gallon of used oil to make 2.5 quarts of re-refined oil. In contrast, it takes 42 gallons of crude oil to make 2.5 quarts of virgin oil.
